Thank you!
We invited you to share your thoughts on how we can involve our patients, families, carers and members of the community when we carry out research.
We welcomed feedback from people with lived experience who have been involved in research or clinical trials, and from those with no experience of research.
All of the feedback we received was valuable and has helped us to develop the first Consumer Involvement Framework for Research.
Thank you.

Learn more about research and clinical trials
In the South Metropolitan Health Service, research knows no limits. Our research is small and large. It can be at a ward level, across state lines, or an international collaboration.
Research includes a range of activities, from staff ideas to improving care or treatments, new ways of working in healthcare or formal clinical trials to assess new drugs or devices or compare treatments.
A clinical trial is a form of human research designed to find out the effects of an intervention on a participant/group of participants.
These interventions can include medical and surgical treatments, experimental drugs and diagnostics, biological products, medical devices, health-related service changes, health-related preventative strategies, and health-related educational interventions.
Clinical trials help us to develop new interventions that may improve health and wellbeing for all.
Consumers can be involved in research projects at many different levels
Do you want to be involved?
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from consumers who would like to join our Research Consumer Advisory Group (CAG). Successful applicants will establish the new CAG and work to support the new National Clinical Trials Governance Framework: Standard 2 - Partnering with Consumers.
Members will attend 4 meetings per year and will be remunerated for their participation.

Applications close Monday 11th November.
