State that "hospital sites are smoke free and vape free" in a friendly and positive way.
Help us choose our new audio message!
In 2023 we started a project to improve the existing audio message played over loudspeakers near the entrances of our hospitals. We asked our staff and consumers for feedback on the existing audio message and ways that the message can be improved.
We received feedback from 31 staff members and 20 consumers who identified some key themes. We have taken all this feedback into consideration and have developed three options for the new audio message (displayed on the right).
These messages have been designed to:
-
-
Explain why a health service is smoke free and vape free. For example, protecting the health of others.
-
Educate patients on what support is available to be smoke free and vape free.

We need your help!
We would value your feedback on the three options for the new audio message. Please complete the survey below to let us know your favourite message and tell us why.
The survey below will take 3 minutes of your time and will help ensure that we choose the best message for the patients, visitors and staff to our sites.

Next Steps
Once the survey is closed, we will review the results and identify the audio message that will be chosen for recording.
We aim to have the message recorded by a voice artist in April, ready for the message to be launched in May 2025.
The new audio message will initially be launched across the SMHS sites that already have a loudspeaker installed.
These sites include locations across Fiona Stanley Hospital, Fremantle Hospital and Rockingham General Hospital.
Across the next year, we will be looking at opportunities to increase the location of loudspeaker systems at these sites and introducing the messaging to Peel Health Campus.
Once the new audio message is ready to launch, we would love to share with you the final result! You can follow the outcome of this project by registering to be a member of Put it to the People, or you can return to this page at a later time to view any updates.
