Share a 'World on a plate' meal
Staff at all SMHS sites are encouraged to share a plate of food from their cultural heritage at a team morning tea, lunch, or afternoon tea.
Observed between 15 - 21 March each year, Harmony week is a time to celebrate our cultural diversity – from the traditional owners of the land to those who have come from countries around the world, everyone deserves to feel safe, welcomed and respected.
Staff across all SMHS sites are encouraged to get involved, and there are many ways that you can choose to participate.

Wear orange
Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It relates to freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. Wear orange to show support for cultural diversity.

Visit a SMHS site display
Harmony Week displays will be set up at each of the hospital sites this week. Visit the displays to learn some facts about the cultural diversity of our community.

Set aside some time to build on your cultural awareness by completing cultural competency training. Check out the WA Health website for the list of training opportunities.
