Patient Experience Week 2026 (27 April - 3 May) was opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the positive impact our staff have on patients' experiences and the lives of those around them.
This year, we received 178 nominations recognising staff for delivering compassionate care to patients and families across our hospitals and community services.
These nominations highlight how much patients and their families value the kindness, empathy and respect demonstrated in the care we deliver, and they acknowledge those who consistently go above and beyond their everyday duties.
All nominations were assessed by a panel that included consumer representatives, with the top 30 nominees receiving a Compassionate Care Award badge.
Nominees were presented with their certificates and badges at ceremonies across four SMHS sites.

Compassionate Care Award Presentation Events
We held presentation events at Fiona Stanley Hospital, Fremantle Hospital, Rockingham General Hospital and Peel Health Campus during Patient Experience Week.
The events were an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate our staff and all that they do to deliver the care that we would expect for ourselves and our loved ones.
